Sexual health, integrity, and well-being is essential to all people regardless of how they chose to unfold their sexual life or sexuality. Female bodied individuals and people from diverse groups of sexual orientation may find it particularly challenging to live satisfying and authentic sexual lives as they may face stigma, discrimination, and prejudice based on their expressed desires and/or sexual orientation. This can lead to feelings of shame, secrecy, and fear of judgment, making it difficult to express their sexuality openly and pursue satisfying sexual relationships.

Addressing these challenges requires comprehensive long-term efforts to combat stigma, promote inclusivity, and dismantle systemic barriers to sexual health and well-being for all individuals, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, or other intersecting identities. This includes advocating for sexual and reproductive rights, providing culturally competent healthcare services, and fostering supportive communities.

Some of the individuals who may benefit from sexual health and wellbeing counselling include:

  • Individuals exploring their sexual desires and preferences: People who are questioning or exploring their sexual desires, fantasies, or preferences may seek counseling to better understand themselves, address any shame or guilt, and explore healthy ways to express their sexuality. This includes lack of desire in females in long term relationships.
  • Female sexual dysfunction: FSD refers to a variety of problems that interfere with a woman’s ability to experience sexual satisfaction. These issues can be physical, psychological, or a combination of both. FSD can affect women of all ages and can have a significant impact on their quality of life and relationships.

  • Individuals questioning their gender identity or sexual orientation: People who are uncertain about their gender identity or sexual orientation may seek counseling to explore their feelings, thoughts, and experiences in a safe and supportive environment.
